This is an exciting and honorable duty and should not be taken lightly. You must be an active member of NJ current with your AST membership and Certification through the NBSTSA, and must be so at the time of the National Conference.

NJAST ELECTIONS – October, 2018

EXPECTATIONS of the Delegate / Alternate Delegate

The primary responsibility of delegates is to attend the opening ceremony, First and Second Business Sessions of the House of Delegates, the Candidates Forum, and to participate in Voting for candidates for the national Board of Directors and Officers.
• Delegate ribbons must be worn during the conference.

• The Credentials Committee and the AST Board of Directors request that conference attendees dress appropriately for all functions of AST. Let us show ourselves, as well as others, that AST is indeed a professional association and that its members reflect that professionalism.

• You will be expected to attend any meetings NJ holds while there as well.

• You will be required to give a report to the State Assembly at the following Fall Conference.  This will cover your personal experience as well as what occurred in the House of Delegates.

If you plan to attend, or are considering going to AST’s National Conference in 2019 and are interested in running for one of six (6) available Delegate positions and/or 6 Alternate Delegate Positions, please click on the ‘Candidate Call – National Delegate tab’ and find the ‘Delegate Consent to Serve form’ tab on the left. Follow the instructions as listed.  Also, don’t forget to register for the Conference – registration will announced in due time.  Even if you are not interested in running for a Delegate position, you will want to have a vote for who New Jersey sends to represent our best interests! Credentials Committee Chair – TBD. Tellers Committee Co-Chairs – TBD.

NJAST Board and Members participated AST Surgical Technology Conference – Orlando, Florida, May 30th-June 2nd, 2018

Several officers of the NJAST Board and general members from New Jersey represented our fine state at the recent National AST Conference in Orlando, Florida. The venue was the exquisite Swan Resort and was well attended by hundreds of your fellow Surgical Technologists from all around the country. The line-up of speakers and presentations was superb. We certainly learned more about our roles and future outlook in the surgical sphere.

Here are some highlight photos to commemorate the event:
